EXODUS's GARY HOLT: New Album Sounds 'Crushing'
June 17, 2003Reunited San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS are continuing work on their new album, "Tempo Of The Damned", at Tsunami studios in Northern California with producer Andy Sneap (SKINLAB, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE, MACHINE HEAD). "All rhythm tracks are done, [bassist] Jack [Gibson]'s laying down the thunder on 'Culling the Herd' right now," guitarist Gary Holt writes on the band's official web site, www.exodusattack.com. "Crushing bass tone! We're doing vocals and bass tracks right now. Zetro's vocals are going to blow minds! You've never heard him sing (scream!) like he is on this record! Intense! Andy Sneap is getting crushing fucking sounds. We're having a blast! Constant porno on the Dish Network! What more can a metal band ask for!"
The long-awaited follow-up to 1992's "Force Of Habit", which is tentatively due in late 2003 through an as-yet-undetermined label, will be mixed at Sneap's Backstage Studios in Ripley, England starting in late June. In addition, EXODUS have begun compiling footage for an upcoming DVD containing a history of the band. "It will run in chronological order, with a lot of really good 'rare' old stuff with [late frontman] Paul [Baloff] and Zet and then ending with the footage that we are filming during the making of this album," manager Steve Warner told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
As previously reported, the band, who were most recently signed to Century Media Records, have abandoned their previously announced plans to issue the new album through CCC Records (which stands for "Contra Costa County"),the new label entity formed by former EXODUS manager Toni Isabella and one-time Capitol Records A&R executive Rachel Matthews (who signed EXODUS and RIGOR MORTIS to the label back in the late '80s) and are set to begin shopping the record around to various independent labels once the mixing sessions have been completed.
